Following Equatorial Guinea’s elimination in the round of 16 at the CAN 2023, Emilio Nsue was named the tournament’s top scorer with 5 goals in 4 matches. However, he was subsequently suspended by the federation for inappropriate behavior. In response to his suspension, the 34-year-old player took to Instagram to live stream his grievances and level serious accusations against his country’s football governing body.

The accusations made by Emilio Nsue are quite damning. He claims that the federation embezzled nearly one million euros after the 2021 CAN in Cameroon. He also alleges that the federation has outstanding debts with the team’s residence hotel in Malabo, where the players were even reportedly evicted.

Furthermore, Nsue declares that the players’ jerseys were unavailable just hours before the match against Nigeria during the CAN 2023. Additionally, he claims that the team’s equipment was purchased by the players themselves and not by the federation.

Nsue also states that not a single member of the federation congratulated him after he received the top scorer award at the CAN. As for his suspension, he alleges that the federation threatened the coach to fire him if he did not label Nsue as a disruptive element.

These are just some of the many accusations made by Emilio Nsue, including allegations of corruption. This scandal is far from over and is likely to have far-reaching consequences.
